Residential customers may apply for a rebate of up to $75 when replacing an existing fixture with a qualifying High Efficiency Toilet (also known as an HET). HETs use no more than 1.28 gallons per flush (gpf). This is 20% less water than the current standard 1.6 gpf for toilets. Note that 1.6 gallon toilets do not qualify for rebates.

Older toilets (those made before 1992) generally use between 3 and 5 gallons of water per flush, and some use even more. HETs save more than 60% versus older toilets. For a family of four, installation of HETs could mean water savings of more than 50 gallons per day or 20,000 gallons a year.

To Qualify

• Applicant must purchase a QUALIFYING High Efficiency Toilet that uses no more than 1.28 gallons per flush (see links to lists of qualifiying toilets below). This is 20% less water than the current standard of 1.6 gallons. ultra-low flush toilets.
• Applicant must install the toilet in a residence that receives water or wastewater service from the City of Corvallis and has a valid residential account number. The account must be in good standing.
• Send a completed rebate application and proof of purchase in the form of a sales receipt or purchase invoice to Corvallis Public Works.
• Sales receipt or purchase invoice must clearly state purchaser's NAME & ADDRESS, and the MODEL NUMBER of the toilet or the rebate can not be approved. (NOTE: Some stores do not print this information on the receipt, and if your receipt does not contain this information, you must obtain a computer generated copy of the sales transaction from the store that shows all required information).
• Application materials must be received within three months of purchase of an approved toilet .
• Rebate can not exceed cost of toilet.
• Rebates are available on a first-come first-served basis only while funds are available. No guarantee is made that funds will be available, however it is our goal to keep this program funded.
• Customers participating in the program agree to an on-site installation verification and in-home water use assessment.
• City of Corvallis may alter the program at any time.
• If you qualify, fill out the rebate application. Please allow four to six weeks for your rebate check to arrive.

Limits

• Rebates available for residential accounts only.
• Each applicant may request up to three (3) rebates. Please use one form.

Qualifying Toilets

There are two lists of qualifying High Efficiency Toilets -- the UNAR list and the Water Sense list. Many toilets are on both lists.

• The Unified North American Requirements (UNAR) is a voluntary system adopted by water authorities and has been testing toilets for performance and water use since 2004.

• The EPA "WaterSense" program has been listing toilets that meet the same qualifications as UNAR. All toilets that qualify for the WaterSense program are allowed to display the WaterSense logo, so if you see the WaterSense Logo, the toilet should qualify for the Corvallis rebate.
