Committee for Citizen Involvement PDF Print E-mail

In late 1998, the City Council approved an ordinance which established the Corvallis Committee for Citizen Involvement (CCI). The primary objective of the Committee is to facilitate citizen involvement in all phases of land use planning and decision making. PDF IconOregon State Land Use Planning Goal #1 requires all cities to establish an officially-recognized CCI. Specific Committee activities include:

  • Providing information to citizens regarding opportunities to become involved in land use processes and decisions;
  • Developing educational materials to promote greater understanding of land use issues; and
  • Evaluating programs and procedures used to promote citizen involvement in land use planning.

The Committee's charge is described in the ordinance which established the CCI. The Committee does not assume any responsibilities that are already fulfilled by the Corvallis Planning Commission, including taking actions on specific land development proposals. The Committee reports to the City Council and provides information on its activities to the Planning Commission.

The CCI meets on a regular basis on the first Thursday of the month at 7:00 PM. Occasional workgroup meetings are scheduled as needed. Announcements of all CCI meetings are published in the "FYI" section of the Gazette Times. The public is welcome to attend all CCI meetings.
