The Corvallis Municipal Court provides adjudication services to allow citizens who have been cited into Municipal Court for violations of the City's traffic, criminal and parking laws to have an opportunity to be heard by an impartial Judge. Municipal Court staff provide customer service, schedule citizens for court arraignments and trials, provide clerk services during court, track bail and fine payments, issue warrants or license suspensions at the Judge's direction, and keep records of all communication with the Court.

The Corvallis Municipal Court offers timely and accurate judicial services for citizens who have been cited into Municipal Court for minor traffic and criminal citations or for parking citations in the City of Corvallis. Municipal Court staff provide information to customers regarding court processes and procedures by telephone and on a walk-in basis. Municipal Court staff are responsible for:

• accurately processing all incoming payments on a daily basis;
• processing all incoming citations on a daily basis in preparation for court;
• maintaining the court dockets and scheduling defendant's appearances for four arraignment times and one scheduled day of trials on a weekly basis;
• issuing warrants and license suspensions per the Judge's order;
• reconciling all Municipal Court accounts on a monthly basis, working closely with the Accounting division of the Finance Department;
• tracking all records associated with the court process for each defendant and each citation, including maintaining the original citation, all correspondence between the defendant and the court, and documentation of the Judge's decision;
• ensuring all diversionary requirements are met (i.e., seatbelt class was attended; restitution payments were made in full); and
• maintaining a complete payment/refund history for each person cited.

The Municipal Court function provides citizens with the opportunity to be heard in Court when they have been cited for a violation of local laws for minor traffic and criminal citations. In Court, citizens may:

• plead guilty to the citation, pay bail and complete their interaction with Court;
• plead guilty to the citation, identify mitigating circumstances in writing or in person at their arraignment, and ask the Judge to reduce their fine amount; or
• plead not guilty to the citation in writing or at their arraignment and seek a trial in Municipal Court to have their story heard by the Judge or a jury.


The Municipal Court function provides citizens with the opportunity to be heard in Court when they have been cited for a violation of local parking laws. In Court, citizens may:

• plead guilty to the parking citation, pay bail and complete their interaction with Court;
• plead guilty to the parking citation, identify mitigating circumstances in writing or in person at their arraignment, and ask the Judge to reduce their fine amount; or
• plead not guilty to the citation in writing or at their arraignment and seek a trial in Municipal Court to have their story heard by the Judge.
