Location & Directions

The Rose Garden is located at the Northwest entrance of Avery Park and Natural Area, on Avery Park Drive. This Avery Park map (PDF) may be useful in helping you locate the garden inside the park.

From Philomath Blvd (the Hwy 20/34 bypass), turn South at the 15th Street/Avery Park stoplight and cross the bridge into the park, where you will face the Rose Garden.

Or from 99W South, take Avery Ave. to the stop sign by the railroad tracks. Turn right to continue on Avery Park Drive. The Rose Garden is on the left, near the ball fields.

Facility Description & Capacity

There is no shelter in the Rose Garden but it features a variety of arbors to frame your event. Park shelters with cooking facilities may be reserved inside Avery Park within walking distance of the Rose Garden.

The Rose Garden features:

  • Capacity of 100 people in the grassy areas, just outside of the Garden
  • Over 250 varieties of Roses, blooming from May to October (full bloom is in June)
  • Scattered arbors, art objects, and benches
  • Paved and soft-surface trails
  • Potable water via a drinking fountain nearby
  • Ample parking

NOTE: While you are welcomed to use the rose bushes as a backdrop to your event, both renters and the general public are prohibited from clipping Roses, harvesting petals, and/or removing Rose petals from the ground, per Corvallis Municipal Code Section 5.01.170. In addition, the use of rice, bird seed, artificial flower petals and streamers are also prohibited.

There are no cooking facilities, tables, or electrical outlets in the Garden. While the Rose Garden does not have a restroom, there is usually a port-a-potty within walking distance during the rental season.

Brides often reserve the nearby Tunison Community Room for their pre-wedding preparations, reserve the Rose Garden for the wedding ceremony, and reserve one of the large shelters for their wedding reception, creating a beautiful, complete, outdoor event.

Nearby Park Features

There are five picnic shelters in Avery Park and Natural Area, three of which can be reserved. The three shelters that may be reserved are the Maple Grove Shelter, which is closest to the the Rose Garden, the Lions Picnic Shelter, and the Thompson Picnic Shelter. The softball fields on either side of the Rose Garden may also be reserved, either for play or to ensure no play takes place during your event.

Avery Park and Natural Area features several picturesque areas, such as a historic locomotive and riverside viewing points that can serve as a backdrop for formal photos. There are playgrounds and restrooms/port-a-pots scattered throughout the park, many of which are handicapped accessible. A walking/jogging trail winds through the park and along the river. The park also offers an extensive separate horseshoe court area and several ball fields. All play equipment/fields are available on a first come, first served basis unless specifically reserved via a permit.

Alcohol / Sound Considerations

Since the Rose Garden is a non-designated site for alcohol consumption, a special permit requiring at least 30 days advance notice must be completed for permission to serve alcohol. See the permit fee below. Alcohol permits are only issued to individuals aged 21 or older; ID is required.

Amplified sound is allowed with an approved Sound Permit. See the permit fee below.

Renters will be given a copy of the City's codes regarding alcohol and/or amplified sound in public places and must agree to abide by these codes.

Rental Fees

The Rose Garden is rented in 4-hour time blocks. Your time block choices are:
8 am to 12 pm
1 pm to 5 pm
6 pm to 10 pm

When renters reserve more than one time block, the hour in between time blocks is offered at no additional charge.
Remember that reservation times must include time to set up and tear down your event.

Monday - Thursday:

$30.00 per 4-hour time block

Friday - Sunday & Holidays:

$45.00 per 4-hour time block

Alcohol Permit:

$12.00 (requires 30-day notice)

Sound Permit: $ 5.00
Reservable ball fields:
Monday - Thursday: $30.00 for 2-hours / $75.00 for exclusive use of a ball field all day
Friday - Sunday & Holidays: $45.00 for 2-hours / $100.00 for exclusive use of a ball field all day

NOTE ABOUT FEES: All fees are subject to change without notice. Additional fees/requirements may apply, especially for activities or events outside of a standard group gathering. Our staff can help you determine if these fees apply to your event.

REFUND POLICY: The alcohol and sound permit fees are non-refundable. Refunds for rental fees will not be given if the written request is received less than five (5) business days before the date of the event. NO refunds are granted due to inclement weather. When a rental fee refund is requested and approved, a $10 processing fee will be deducted from the amount refunded. The refund request form is found on the last page of the Refund Policy (PDF).

Availability & Reservations

The Rose Garden may be rented from April 1st to October 31st each year; it is rented in 4-hour time blocks:
8 am to 12 pm
1 pm to 5 pm
6 pm to 10 pm

The shelter can be reserved up to one year from the date of your event. Call Parks & Recreation at 541-766-6918, Monday through Friday, 8 am to 5 pm to check availability and hold your reservation.

Renters must complete permits and pay in full within 1 week of reserving the space, or within 2 business days of the event, whichever comes first.
