Location & Directions

The Willamette Picnic Shelter is located in Willamette Park, at the end of Goodnight Ave in South Corvallis. From 99W South (also known as 3rd Street), exit onto Goodnight Ave and follow the road to the park's entrance. The shelter is to the right, where the road dead ends at the river. Facility Description & Capacity

The Willamette Picnic Shelter features a beautiful view of the Willamette River. Part of the shelter is walled to create a wind-break and offer some privacy. Generally there are four standard picnic tables available.

The Willamette Picnic Shelter features:

  • Capacity of 100 people in the area, or 30 people under roof
  • Views of the Willamette River
  • Volleyball standards
  • Play equipment nearby
  • Two large barbeques
  • Potable water via a faucet or nearby drinking fountain
  • 110-volt outlets
  • 240-volt outlets available with prior arrangement
  • Automatic lights that come on at dusk
  • Ample parking

One standard portable restroom is nearby for use by all park patrons. The shelter sits just across a meadow from the park's play equipment which includes several slides, swings and climbing structures. The park's soccer fields are within sight. Soccer fields are first-come, first-served unless specifically reserved via a sport field permit

Nearby Park Features

Willamette Park features 287 acres of natural areas, sports fields, river access and play equipment. The frisbee golf course is a popular feature of the park. All sports fields within Willamette Park are available on a first come, first served basis unless specifically reserved via a permit for your event.

While dogs are required to be on leash in the shelter, playground area, and soccer field, the remainder of the park is designated as an off-leash dog park. Walking/jogging trails wind through the woods with several paths leading to the river's edge for easy fishing. A multi-modal path extends from nearby neighborhoods, past the Willamette Picnic Shelter, to the boat dock near the Crystal Lakes playing fields.

Alcohol / Sound Considerations

Alcohol is permitted in the shelter area only with an approved Alcohol Permit. See the permit fee below. Alcohol permits are only issued to individuals aged 21 or older; ID is required.

Amplified sound is allowed with an approved Sound Permit. See the permit fee below.

Renters will be given a copy of the City's codes regarding alcohol and/or amplified sound in public places and must agree to abide by these codes.

Rental Fees

The Willamette Picnic Shelter is rented in 4-hour time blocks. Your time block choices are:
          8 am to 12 pm
          1 pm to 5 pm
          6 pm to 10 pm

When renters reserve more than one time block, the hour in between time blocks is offered at no additional charge.
Remember that reservation times must include time to set up and tear down your event.

 

Monday - Thursday:

$30.00 per 4-hour time block

 

Friday - Sunday & Holidays:

$45.00 per 4-hour time block

Additional fees, when applicable:

 

Alcohol Permit:

$ 5.00

  Sound Permit: $ 5.00
     
  Reservable soccer fields:  
         Monday - Thursday: $30.00 for 2-hours / $130.00 for exclusive use of a ball field all day
         Friday - Sunday & Holidays: $45.00 for 2-hours / $185.00 for exclusive use of a ball field all day
 

Softball, Horseshoes, or Volleyball equipment:

$ 5.00 per set, per day (with a $25 credit card deposit that is fully refunded upon return of the equipment)

NOTE ABOUT FEES: All fees are subject to change without notice. Additional fees/requirements may apply, especially for activities or events outside of a standard group gathering. Our staff can help you determine if these fees apply to your event.

REFUND POLICY: The alcohol and sound permit fees are non-refundable. Refunds for rental fees will not be given if the written request is received less than five (5) business days before the date of the event. NO refunds are granted due to inclement weather. When a rental fee refund is requested and approved, a $10 processing fee will be deducted from the amount refunded. The refund request form is found on the last page of the Refund Policy (PDF).

Availability & Reservations

The Willamette Picnic Shelter may be rented from April 1st to October 31st each year; it is rented in 4-hour time blocks:
          8 am to 12 pm
          1 pm to 5 pm
          6 pm to 10 pm

The shelter can be reserved up to one year from the date of your event. Call Parks & Recreation at 541-766-6918, Monday through Friday, 8 am to 5 pm to check availability and hold your reservation.

Renters must complete permits and pay in full within 1 week of reserving the space, or within 2 business days of the event, whichever comes first.
