Corvallis on CD
|
|
Have you ever wanted to look at Corvallis
in an entirely new way? Now you can! The Public Works Department's Mapping
& GIS Services has published the entire city geographic information system
(GIS) dataset on two compact disks (CD). With the GIS CD and a computer
running Windows 95 or Windows NT, "layers" of mapping features such as
parcels, zoning, utilities, flood zones, streams and buildings can be
viewed, along with the associated data. This GIS CD also contains the
complete city topographical map library, for those who have a computer
aided drafting (CAD) software application (e.g. AutoCAD). The second CD
contains digital orthophotographs (geographically accurate aerial photos)
of the City's urban growth boundary, plus an area extending out another
one-half mile. Included with each CD is a viewing software that will read
the GIS files and the orthophoto files, and the complete data
dictionary (PDF file format).
These CDs are available at the Corvallis-Benton
County Public Library on the second floor at the Adult Reference desk
or at Oregon State University's Valley Library in the Map Room for check
out. You can also purchase them for $10 each from the Public Works Mapping
and GIS Office at 1245 NE 3rd Street. Most files available on these
CDs may also be downloaded from our FTP site.
